While searching for old pictures of our building, my husband Steven found some interesting details about the use of our land and buildings:
- St. Louis Automobile Company was an agent for Clark cars at 2714 Lafayette in 1910, and he found an ad placed by same company mentioning Mr. Gregory, who is probably the W.S. Gregory who owned 2714 according to the 1905 plat book.
- In 1918, Lafayette Garage and Repair was located at 2716, and in 1922, 2714-2716 were the “Lafayette Garage”, and continued with this use until at least 1932 (at which time there was also a filling station at 2722).
- Later Stiel and Stewart service at 2710 (from 1958 to 1961), and of course the Kaiser dealership.
